Simons Graduate Fellowships in Theoretical Computer Science By Simons Foundation, USA

Description
A Simons Graduate Fellowship is awarded for a period of two years. An awardee must be a graduate student for the duration of the Fellowship. Each award will provide annual support for the following:

    Fellowship stipend as set by the student’s institution.
    Tuition and fees at the student's institution, to the extent previously covered by other outside funding.
    $3,000 in additional support for the student to use at his/her discretion.
    $5,000 per year toward the student’s health insurance and other fringe benefits.
    $5,000 per year for travel, books, a computer and other supplies.
    $5,000 in institutional overhead allowance.

Eligibility
To be eligible the applicant must be a Ph.D. student at a U.S. institution of higher education. A track record of outstanding results in theoretical computer science is the key criterion. There is a limit of one application per university. Please coordinate with the Department Chair.

Uppsala University PhD studentship position in Medical Science, Sweden

Description
We are seeking a highly qualified candidate for PhD studies in medical systems biology, particularly cancer systems biology. In this cross-disciplinary project, conducted in Sven Nelander’s lab, our goal is to map and understand how brain tumor-derived stem cells respond to rationally designed drug combinations. To achieve this, we combine mathematical models of drug response of cancer pathways, with cell experiments in a panel of cancer-derived stem cells, conducted at the SciLifeLab facilities.

Eligibility
Highly motivated candidates with a Masters degree in the fields of biotechnology, medicine, pharmacology, biology or biomedicine. We are equally interested in applications from biologically oriented candidates with a Masters degree in a technical or theoretical subject, e.g. physics, engineering, mathematics or computer science. Previous experience in experimental or computational bioscience is considered a merit, as well as experience in cell culture, screening and/or computer programming.

Copenhagen Business school PhD scholarships in Strategy and organizing, Denmark

Description
A PhD scholarship runs for a period of 3 years, and includes teaching obligations equivalent of ½ year’s work (840 work hours). The scholarships are fully salaried positions, according to the national Danish collective agreement. The scholarship includes the tuition fees, office space, travel grants plus a salary, currently starting with per month app. DKK 23.770 (app. 3,160 euro) up to DKK 28.964 (app. 3,860 euro) depending on seniority, plus a pension contribution totalling 17,1 % of 85 per cent of the base salary.

the Nicholl Fellowships for Screen writers, USA

Description
Up to five $35,000 fellowships are awarded each year to promising new screenwriters. From the program’s inception in 1986 through 2011, over $3.2 million have been awarded to 133 writers.

Eligibility
Screenwriters who have not earned more than $5,000 writing fictional work for film or television.

Entry scripts must be the original work of one writer, or of two writers who collaborated equally, and must be written originally in English. Adaptations and translated scripts are not eligible.

Writers may create an online account at the Nicholl website at any time. When the competition opens each year, they should use that account to enter, following the links to the Log In page. The Nicholl website allows entrants to fill out the required online application form, submit a PDF version of their script and pay the entry fee with a credit or debit card. Fulbright NEXUS Regional Scholar Program, USA

Description
The Fulbright Regional Network for Applied Research (NEXUS) Program will bring together a network of junior scholars, professionals and mid-career applied researchers from the United States and other Western Hemisphere nations for a series of three seminar meetings and a Fulbright exchange experience.

Eligibility

Applicants must be from Latin America, Canada, the Caribbean or the United States.

Non-U.S. applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of and residing in the country from which they are applying at the time of application. Non-U.S. applicants holding permanent residency "green cards", whether or not they reside in the U.S., are not eligible. Since specific residency requirements vary from country to country, applicants should contact their local Fulbright office directly to determine their eligibility.

U.S. applicants must have U.S. citizenship and be residing permanently in the United States

U.S. applicants who are currently on the Fulbright Specialist Roster may not accept any Specialist assignments during the Fulbright NEXUS Scholar Program year.

Harold White Fellowships fully funded National Library Australia

Description
The fellowships scheme aims to promote the Library as a centre of scholarly activity and research, encourage scholarly and literary use of the Library’s collections and production of publications arising from that scholarship, and to promote the Library’s rich and varied collections. Four to seven fellowships, of periods from three to six months, are awarded annually.

The Library’s Fellowships give scholars and writers the means and the uninterrupted time to work with the Library’s rich collections of books, journals, newspapers, maps, music, manuscripts, pictures and oral histories.  Fellows have privileged access to the Library’s materials and facilities, as well as sustained interaction with many of its staff.

Eligibility
Fellowships are open to established Australian and international researchers and creative writers in any discipline in which the Library has strong collections. Successful applicants are generally senior scholars or writers with a strong publication track record, including publication of full length monographs. Fellowships are not intended for post-doctoral or early career researchers. More than 100 Fellowships have been awarded to scholars from a wide variety of disciplines, and to several award winning Australian creative writers, including Frank Moorhouse, Sara Dowse and David Foster.

Fellowships are not provided to assist with the completion of degree studies and applications from currently enrolled students will not be considered.  Fellowships are awarded once only to each individual; subsequent applications from previous recipients will not be considered.

OWSD Postgraduate Fellowships Specially offered for women from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries

This fellowship programme is for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa or Least Developed Countries (LDCs) who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a doctorate degree at a centre of excellence in the South outside their own country.

  • Host institutions must be located in a developing country.

Eligibility
  1. The fellowships are open to qualified young women science graduates (generally below 40 years of age) from countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and/or LDCs.
  2. The minimum qualification of applicants is an M.Sc. degree (or equivalent), or an outstanding B.Sc. honours degree, in the natural sciences.
  3. Important: Following recent discussions with donors, earlier restrictions that limited eligible research projects to those in the basic sciences have been dropped. Therefore, applications can now be accepted from female scientists in all branches of the natural sciences.
  4. Applicants already on site in the host country will not be considered eligible.
  5. The host institute where the applicant wishes to pursue her doctorate degree must be in a developing country other than her own.
  6. The applicant must be willing to return to her own country after completion of the fellowship.

The Intajour Fellowship Program is a ten-month-long course called "Journalism in the Digital World". The next batch starts on September 2, 2012 and consists of attendance phases as well as e-learning phases. The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Program, USA

Description
The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Program was created to encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering and to foster excellence in those fields.

Nominees for Goldwater Scholarships must include in their online application a statement of interest in a career in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering, detailing how their academic program and their overall educational plans will prepare them for their chosen career goal. It is expected that students selected as scholars will pursue advanced degrees.

Eligibility
  • Be a full-time matriculated sophomore or junior pursuing a degree at an accredited institution of higher education during the 2011–2012 academic year. "Sophomore" is defined as a student who plans two more years of full-time undergraduate study beginning September 2012.

Eligibility
  1. Applicant must be under the age of 35.
  2. Must be an Egyptian national and residing in Egypt.
  3. Is planning to pursue his/her studies at one of the top universities in their discipline of choice.
  4. Must have been accepted at the university and program of interest.
  5. Excellent command of language of study Good command of the English language.
  6. Involvement with activities in civic, public or international affairs (NGOs, volunteer work, etc) will be an asset.
  7. Must have a genuine financial need.
  8. Not a beneficiary of any other partial scholarship or grants (with exception to waivers from the university of choice itself).
  9. Upon completion of program, graduates must be committed to return to work in Egypt for a minimum of 2 years.
  10. Military service status must be clear (for males).

Summer Program At MiReKoc International Summer School, Turkey

Description
MiReKoc International Summer School is designed as a program for 20 graduate and postgraduate students as well as junior migration experts.

The fee for the program is 1400 Euros, which includes registration, course materials, coffee breaks, lunches, and accommodation. Accommodation will be subsidized by Koç University.

Application Procedure
Interested candidates must submit the following documents:
  • A detailed resume,
  • Two reference letters,
  • The transcript of the latest higher education institution attended,
  • Proof of English knowledge (such as TOEFL or IELTS scores),
