Education Award Funded By Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation, USA

Description
In 2012, the Foundation will offer five Education Support Awards of up to $2000 each to assist low-income women with children who are pursuing education or training. Education Support Awards may be used for direct school expenses or for living expenses while you are enrolled in an educational program. Awardees are notified by phone or email. Business, Economics and Law Merit Scholarship for Hong Kong students, Australia

Description
The Faculty of the Professions' Business, Economics and Law Merit Undergraduate Scholarship scheme was announced in February 2012 in recognition of the "double cohort" year. The Scholarships are available to Hong Kong students who are seeking entry into one of the priority programs in semester 1 of 2013 via the HKDSE or HKALE results. The Scholarship provides a one-off AUD 5000 payment for living allowances under the conditions described below.

Eligibility
  • Have applied to study in either a Business, Economics or Law undergraduate program as listed in Annex A (See below: Annex A – 2013 Priority Undergraduate Programs) and be offered admission into semester 1 of 2013 at the University of Adelaide;
  • Commence an academic program for the first time at the University of Adelaide (without advanced standing); AND
  • Be a resident of Hong Kong

Application Procedure
An application for admission to the University in 2013 will constitute an application for a Scholarship provided that a completed Scholarship application form is also forwarded electronically to the Faculty by 31st August 2012.

Successful recipients will receive the Scholarship offer from the Faculty of the Professions, subject to availability. To accept the Scholarship, the recipient MUST accept the University offer of admissions by the deadline stipulated in the Scholarship offer letter. If no response is received by the specified deadline, the offer of the Scholarship will lapse and will be offered to the next eligible candidate.

The University reserves the right not to award the Scholarships if there are no candidates of sufficient merit as determined in each case, or to amend the availability of Scholarships and/or the information provided in the Scholarships details at anytime.

Truman Scholarship at University of California Berkeley, USA

Description
The Harry S. Truman Scholarship provides $30,000 to juniors planning to attend graduate school in preparation for careers in public service. Awardees also receive leadership training, graduate school counseling, preferential admission to premier graduate institutions, and internship opportunities with federal agencies. Description

Strauss Foundation Scholarship Scholarship, USA

Description
The Donald A. Strauss Scholarship provides a $10,000 scholarship to juniors who will pursue a self-initiated public service project during their senior year. The project may be a new undertaking or an extension of an existing project. The Strauss Foundation annually awards at least fourteen scholarships to students from fifteen eligible California institutions. Each participating institution (including UC Berkeley) can nominate three students for the award.

Eligibility

  • Full-time junior
  • In the upper third of class (typically a minimum 3.3 GPA)
  • Plan to devote significant part of life to public service

Fee waivers and bursaries of National Scholarship Programme, UK

Description
The University of Bath fee waivers, bursaries and National Scholarship Programme awards listed  on this page are all means tested and you will only be considered for these if your family household income is assessed for student support purposes at £16,000 or below.

If your family income is between £16,001 and  £42,000 you may be eligible for a Donor Funded Scholarship. A range of non-means tested scholarships may also be available.

We have over 100 National Scholarship Programme awards for students from England who meet the eligibility criteria for the University of Bath fee waiver and who have the best qualifications from the target group. Award holders will receive:

FWQA’s National Capital Environmental Scholarship Program, USA

Description
FWQA is very proud to provide scholarships to students seeking careers in wastewater and related fields. Each year, FWQA provides at least three $2,000 annual scholarships (renewable annually for up to three additional years) to Washington, D.C.-area high school seniors accepted to college to pursue careers in the environmental sciences.

Hanze Talent Scholarships, Netherlands

Description
Hanze UAS has scholarships to grant talented students from non EU/EEA countries applying for a Bachelor or a Master of Fine Arts programme in the academic year of 2012-2013. Kodak Student Scholarship At the University Film & Video Association, USA

Description
New this year will be the addition of a Student Cinematography Scholarship Award, in addition to a Student Scholarship Award. Each award will include a cash tuition prize along with KODAK Film Product grants to assist recipients with future projects. Participating worldwide colleges and universities that offer a degree or diploma program in film, film production, or cinematography may nominate up to two students each year for consideration for the KODAK Student Scholarship Award and one cinematography student each year for consideration for the KODAK Student Cinematography Scholarship Award. The cinematography student nominee may also be nominated for the KODAK Student Scholarship Award.

Masters Studentship Scheme in Population Studies, UK

Description
The value of a scholarship in 2012 will be £15,000, to include tuition fees. An initial payment of £12,000 is made at the beginning of the academic year from which it is expected that tuition fees will be deducted. Institutions can deduct tuition fees up to the maximum agreed RCUK level, which will be £3,828 in 2012. The balance of £3,000 is paid in late February or early March of the following year, on receipt of a satisfactory progress report from the student’s supervisor. Awards are usually administered by the institution at which the student will be studying and maintenance may well be paid out in instalments.

Applications are not accepted from individual students. One named contact at each ESRC Doctoral Training Centre will coordinate applications, and will be invited to apply on behalf of suitable candidates at the beginning of April 2012. Five applications per Doctoral Training Centre, presented in ranked order, are the maximum number allowed. Applications can be accepted from students wishing to study part-time over a two-year period (when the amount of the award will be split between the two years.) Scholarships are not available to students subsequently awarded or holding major grants from other sources such as Research Councils. The closing date for applications in 2012 will be Monday 2 July 2012. Each application will be assessed by an Assessment Panel of four academics drawn from the PIC’s Scholarship Committee and the ESRC’s Training and Skills Committee. Wimbledon College of Art Trust Bursary, UK

Description
A bursary of £6,000 will be offered to a Home/EU CCW (Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon) graduate by the Trustees of WCA which will be a contribution towards tuition fees.

A £1,000 discount is available to Home/EU students starting a Masters level course in 2012-13 who have successfully completed an undergraduate level, Pg Dip or Pg Cert course at UAL (University of the Arts London). If eligible for the above award and successful, the £1,000 discount will be deducted from the £6,000 award.

Frank Stell Scholarship For UK/EU Students At Leeds University, UK

Description
The Frank Stell Scholarship was established in 1959.  The fund was bequeathed by Frank Stell of Halifax to provide scholarships tenable at the University of Leeds for the study of Biology, Agricultural Science or Social and Political Science.

Eligibility
  1. Applicants MUST first submit a research degree study application form and be in receipt of a University BANNER ID Number  to be eligible for a Frank Stell Scholarship.
  2. Beneficiaries of the awards must be resident or have a parent or parents resident within the former administrative area of the County Council of the West Riding of Yorkshire.
  3. These awards are only available to nationals from the UK and EU and are not open to applicants who are liable to pay academic fees at the international fee rate;
  4. Applicants must hold a First Degree at undergraduate level equivalent to at least a UK Upper Second Class Honours degree.  Applicants should either have graduated with the appropriate First Degree or be in their final year of study;
  5. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the University’s English Language requirements .  Some Schools require a standard of English higher than the University minimum;
  6. These awards are not open to individuals who have already been awarded a Doctoral degree or equivalent qualification.

The Einstein Fellowship By Einstein Forum and the Daimler and Benz Foundation, Germany

Description
The fellowship includes living accommodations for five to six months in the garden cottage of Einstein`s own summerhouse in Caputh, Brandenburg, only a short distance away from the universities and academic institutions of Potsdam and Berlin. International Scholarship of The Victor H. Loewenstein Scholarship, UK

Description
The Victor H. Loewenstein Scholarship is awarded to a student from outside the UK so as to enhance the international nature of the programme. The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and the benefits to the student. Each scholarship will be worth £5,000.

Eligibility
The scholarship is open to applicants who are citizens and residents of any country except the United Kingdom and who are applying for admission onto the Full-time MBA or MBA in International Business in September 2012.

Although applications for the scholarship should be made before 31 May 2012, the scholarship will only be awarded to an applicant who has firmly accepted their offer through payment of the deposit. Applicants who hold full sponsorships are not eligible for the scholarship.

If an applicant is successful in being awarded the scholarship, but subsequently declines their offer of admission on the MBA programme, the award of the scholarship will be withdrawn and awarded to another applicant.

Application Procedure
Applicants should submit a 1,000 word essay, explaining why they feel they should be awarded a scholarship, and how the scholarship will benefit them. This essay should accompany their application for the MBA programme.

Sport Scholarship by AIT, Denmark

Description
AIT has operated a sports scholarship scheme since 1996 for students who have reached, or have the potential to reach, a very high standard of performance in their chosen sport. Under the scheme, approximately thirty full and half scholarships are awarded each year, up to the value of €4,800 over four years. Each scholarship is awarded for a period of one year, but may be renewed for up to a maximum of four years. Students pursuing higher study after the four year threshold will be considered for additional years.

Research Grant of Modern Languages At Helsinki University, Denmark

Description
The Department of Modern Languages conducts research on languages spoken in Europe and elsewhere in the world and studies literature written in these languages. The Department also contributes to the development of the general theory of linguistics, translation studies, language technology and literary research. The Department educates experts in these areas of language and culture for the various needs of society and functions as a prominent opinion leader in these disciplines within Finnish society.

The Department of Modern Languages, the largest department in the Faculty of Arts, has a total annual budget of EUR 10 million. It accommodates 14 disciplines with 2,400 first- and second-cycle students and 170 staff members. Each year, an average of 170 Master’s degrees and 10–12 doctoral degrees are completed.

Eligibility
Post-doctoral researchers are required to be proficient in Finnish. They must also have at least satisfactory spoken and written skills in Swedish. Foreign citizens, non-native Finnish citizens or citizens who have not been educated in Finnish or Swedish may be exempted from this requirement without a separate application.

You will need to have funding to cover the cost of your fees and your living expenses. You may also need to cover the cost of any research expenses such as fieldwork or lab costs if your funding does not include these.

Eligibility
  1. Applicants MUST first submit a research degree study application form and be in receipt of a University BANNER ID Number  (Student ID Number) to be eligible for a Leeds International Research Scholarship.  Applications without a valid University ID Number will be rejected.
  2. These awards are only available to applicants who would normally be liable to pay academic fees at the full international fee rate;
  3. Applicants must normally hold a First Degree at undergraduate level equivalent to at least a UK First Class Honours degree and should be considered to be amongst the ‘best of the best’ (eg successful applicants are likely to be in the top 5% of their MSc/MA and BSc/BA cohorts and already in receipt of prizes at national or international level).
  4. Applicants whose first language is not English must have already met the University’s English Language requirements  by 4 July 2012 or be a current undergraduate student in their final year or a current postgraduate student at a University in an English speaking country.
  5. These awards are not open to individuals who have already been awarded a Doctoral degree or equivalent qualification;
  6. LIRS scholarships should not normally be held concurrently with other Scholarships, although it may sometimes be possible for a LIRS award holder to hold another scholarship paying maintenance of no more than £3,590 a year in value. 

Application Procedure
  1. Applicants must complete all sections of the application form, using the space provided on the form and with strict observation of any word limits.
  2. The completed form should be returned to the Postgraduate Scholarships Office, Marjorie & Arnold Ziff Building, University of Leeds, Leeds LS2 9JT by no later than midnight UK time on 4 July 2012 or by email to pg_scholarships@leeds.ac.uk  Attachments (other than the scholarship application form) are not permitted and all will be disregarded.
  3. To track the progress of your application, visit http://scholarships.leeds.ac.uk, select the tab ‘Application Tracking’ and follow the instructions on screen.  Due to the large volume of applications, the Postgraduate Scholarships Office will not enter into any correspondence regarding the progress of an application.

WIT International Scholarship, Ireland

Description
Undergraduate and Higher Diploma students
  • The International Student Scholarship will provide for a 25% reduction in tuition fees for each year of an undergraduate or a Higher Diploma programme. (NB for entry into all years of Bachelor programmes except final year).
  • Award in subsequent years of study is subject to the achievement of 60% overall average mark

Postgraduate students
  • The International Student Scholarship will provide for a reduction of EURO 3150 for all taught Masters programmes
  • The scholarships are open to all self-funding Non-EU students

Eligibility
You have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent

Applications must be made on the prescribed form (complete the online application form) and submitted to the International office on or before 31st May 2012.
