UK Transport Scholarship at Institute For Transfort Studies, Leeds University, UK

The Institute for Transport Studies (ITS), University of Leeds, is offering a full-fees Masters scholarship, to provide a unique opportunity to a student of outstanding ability, achievement and potential. The European Transport Scholarship 2012/13 will fund the fees for an EU (non-UK) student to undertake a Masters programme at ITS, on a one year full-time basis.   The scholarship forms part of the ITS mission to advance the understanding of transport globally via the development of skills and best practice.   It is anticipated that after completing the Masters programme, the scholarship recipient will apply their new skills to an area of identified need within the European Union. 

Value of the scholarship
The scholarship is a full-fees waiver for the 2012-13 academic year, to the value of £4900.

Eligibility

  1. Applicants must first hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) of an academic place for an ITS Masters degree for the academic year commencing September 2012.
  2. Applicants must be designated as ‘Home fee status’ by the University of Leeds and be domiciled in the UK. 

Application Procedure

To apply for the scholarship applicants must
  • Complete and submit the relevant scholarship application form, to include: i) a statement of up to 500 words which outlines an important UK transport issue (policy, technical, social, economic) and proposes a dissertation topic which could make a significant contribution to this issue. The dissertation topic can link to existing research themes at ITS, or be an idea developed by the applicant, and should be novel yet practicable. ii) evidence of the applicant’s outstanding ability, achievement and potential; iii) an outline of the applicant’s career aspirations.
  • Provide a supporting statement from a referee
