CICOPS Scholarship Specially Offered for Student From Develeoping Country, Italy

Description
In 1996, the Technical-Scientific Committee of CICOPS approved a scholarship project aimed at fostering research collaboration between academics from developing countries and the University of Pavia. The scholarships were designed for both junior and senior members of universities in developing countries or members of major research centres and international organizations with specific interests in the field of development studies. Since 1998, the University of Pavia and the Institute for University Studies (EDiSU) have offered about ten scholarships yearly for a four to ten week stay in Pavia, during which time the scholars carry out joint research with professors in the department that hosts them and often hold seminars. As of 2011, about 150 scholarships had been awarded to academics from 40 different countries to carry out research in Pavia.

Eligibility
  1. The scholarships were designed for both junior and senior members of universities in developing countries or members of major research centres and international organizations with specific interests in the field of development studies.
  2. Applicants must have either two years of either teaching experience or activity in international organisations and institution.

Description
About 30 foreign students are allocated by the International Selection a monthly scholarship of approximately 1000 euros during two years (in Mathematics, a year of undergraduate studies can be added before the Master, depending on the candidate’s profile).

  • There is no specific program for this international selection. The first step of the admission process is a selection of students according to their records.   • Candidates submit the form available on the website between January , 10 th and March, 15th 2012;
  • In May, they will be informed of the results of the preselection process;
  • The candidates whose applications have been preselected are individually invited in Paris, where they will take the written tests and then will be interviewed by the examination panel immediately afterwards. The results are published in the few following days. All in all the candidates need to stay up to two weeks;
  • Classes start mid-September.

Master Studenship by Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) At Manchester University, UK

Description
The MRes TERM holds funding from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) in recognition of the academic excellence and depth of research training provided by the course in an area of bioscience priority.

Eligibility
The scholarship available to to UK/EU* applicants who have been awarded or expect to be awarded a 1st or a 2i (or equivalent) Bachelors degree in a relevant subject. The studentships provide full support for tuition fees in addition to a tax-free minimum stipend of £13, 590.

Scholarship and Grant of OeAD anniversary to study in Social Sciences, Humanities and Cultural Studies, Austria

Description
To celebrate it's 50th anniversary the OeAD initiates an anniversary grant, which will establish a strong connection to the founding history of the ÖAD. The ÖAD was founded as an association of the Austrian universities and was from the very beginning responsible for the support of international students in Austria who often also came from crisis regions.

Duration and focus: 4 to 5 months with a clear focus on the democratization process in the Maghreb countries. Both the topic and the regional relation must be shown clearly in the application.

The amount of scholarship are: for graduates: 940 euros/month and for post-docs: 1040 euros/month

Eligibility
The OeAD anniversary grant supports non-European researchers in selected countries who deal scientifically with the democratisation process and thus contribute to the development and strengthening of the civil society.
The current regional focus is on the countries of the Maghreb; eligible for application are postgraduates and post-docs from social sciences, humanities and cultural studies from the following countries: Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, Egypt.

The Tony Menendez Computer Scholarship At Florida International University, USA

The scholarship awards a laptop computer with all the pertinent programs along with IT support from the College’s computer lab staff when needed. the GDF SUEZ / MAEE Master Scholarship Programme, France

Shire 2012 ADHD Scholarship Program, USA

Description
An ADHD Coach is offered as part of the scholarship to empower award recipients in managing the stresses of the transition to higher education. There are nearly 100 Coaches trained by the Edge Foundation located throughout the United States. Each recipient of an ADHD Scholarship will be paired with an ADHD Coach based upon their needs and location. After an initial intake session that includes a comprehensive 2-hour interview to gather information about the students, their needs and their work style, the recipients are provided weekly coaching sessions which typically last a half-hour. Also included are a series of unlimited e-mail, text or telephone check-ins between formal sessions to keep the student and coach on track toward the next session.

Eligibility
This Scholarship is intended for US citizens accepted to or attending an approved college, university, vocational, or technical school as an undergraduate student that has been diagnosed with ADHD and is under the care of a licensed health care professional for ADHD.

Swensrud Teacher Fellowships By Massachusetts Historical Society, USA

Description
The Massachusetts Historical Society (MHS) is offering at least three fellowships to public and/or parochial schoolteachers and library media specialists during the summer of 2012. The fellowships carry a stipend of $4,000 for four weeks of on-site research at the MHS.

OFID SCHOLARSHIP AWARD FOR MASTER STUDENTS FROM DEVELOPING COUNTRY

Description
OFID (The OPEC Fund for International Development) is pleased to announce that qualified applicants who have obtained or are on the verge of completing their undergraduate degree and who wish to study for a Master's degree (click here for other master's scholarship) are welcome to apply for the OFID Scholarship 2012. The OFID Scholarship will be awarded to support two students or candidates for Master’s degree studies. The applicant may be from any developing country, and he/she must first obtain admission to pursue a Master's (graduate) degree in any recognized university/college in the world. The Scholarship is open to those students who wish to pursue studies in a relevant field of Development or Energy Studies.

Through its scholarship scheme, OFID aims to help highly motivated, highly-driven individuals overcome one of the biggest challenges to their careers – the cost of graduate studies. Visiting Journalist Program by Woodrow Wilson Center For Arabian Journalist, USA

Description
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is Washington's only independent, broad spectrum, non-partisan institute for advanced research where vital current issues and their historical and cultural backgrounds are explored through research and dialogue.

The stipend provided is $5,000 per month. In addition, the Wilson Center will pay roughly three-quarters of the health insurance premiums for the visiting journalist, and the journalist will pay roughly one-quarter of the cost. The journalist will be provided with suitable work space, a Windows-based computer, and where feasible, a part-time research assistant. The Wilson Center Library provides access to digital resources, its book and journal collections, and to the Library of Congress, university and special libraries in the area, and other research facilities.

Eligibility
This competition is open to Arab men and women from, and working in, the Middle East or North Africa in the Arabic media. Applications will be accepted from members of the print, television, radio or electronic media. Candidates must be currently working as reporters and columnists or broadcasters.

Applicants must have at least five years of professional experience and must be able to work in both written and spoken English and Arabic. Applicants must be able to hold a valid passport and obtain a J1 visa.

CHINA/PACIFIC ISLANDS FORUM (PIF) SCHOLARSHIP FUNDED BY CHINA GOVERNMENT, CHINA

Description
China/Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) scholarship program is a full scholarship provided for PIF member countries by the Ministry of Education of P. R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE). MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to manage the recruitment and carry out the routine management of this scholarship program.

Chinese HEIs use Chinese as their official instruction language for the undergraduate education, Certain Chinese HEIs could conduct part of the postgraduate programs and non-degree courses for general and senior scholars in English. Applicants with no command of Chinese are generally required to take one to two years’ Chinese language course (for undergraduates program applicants, one to two years’ college preparatory courses) prior to the academic study. Only by passing the examinations after the above courses, could they start their academic studies. For those who need to take the Chinese language courses or college preparatory courses, the scholarship duration will be extended automatically.

Eligibility
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens from PIF member countries and be in good health.
Education background and age limit:
  • Applicants for undergraduate studies must have senior high school diploma with good grade and be under the age of 25.

Tropical Biology Associatiaon Masters scholarship, Africa

Description
Funded through a consortium of TBA funders, The TBA Postgraduate Scholarships are annually offered by the Tropical Biology Association to its African alumni. They are intended to help African alumni undertake postgraduate studies after they have attended TBA courses, as part of the TBA alumni follow up support programme designed to promote human resource development and strengthen professional expertise among African biologists in biodiversity conservation and research.

Eligibility
  • Applicants must be nationals from Africa who have attended a TBA course.
  • Priority will be given to those who attended courses since 2001.

Ugo Irneri Scholarship for non Italian citizens coming from South, Central and Eastern European Countries, Italy

Description
MIB School of Management of Trieste is pleased to announce a competition for one scholarship, named in honor of Mr. Ugo Irneri – the founder of Lloyd Adriatico, now part of Allianz Group, for the XIV edition of the Master in Insurance and Risk Management (January 2013 – December 2013). This scholarship will be awarded to a recent non-Italian graduate coming from South, Central and Eastern European Countries. The scholarship will cover the whole tuition fees and the board and lodging expenses (6.000,00 EUR).

Eligibility
  1. academic degree (or equivalent qualification) in economics or in a technical subject;

Lane Kirkland Scholarships 2012, Poland

Description
The Polish-American Freedom Foundation - Founder of the Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program, and the Polish – U.S. Fulbright Commission - Program Administrator, announce an open competition for candidates from Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, as well as Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan for the Lane Kirkland Scholarships in the 2012-13 academic year.

Eligibility
  • Citizenship and permanent residence in one of the targeted countries
  • individuals with a permanent residence card in Poland are ineligible
  • Master’s degree
  • up to 35 years of age (in special cases up to 40)

E.P. Abraham Scholarship in the Chemical, Biological/Life and Medical Sciences At St Cross College, Oxford, UK

Description
St Cross College invites applications for this scholarship from students who will begin studying for a postgraduate research degree in the University of Oxford in the academic year 2012 - 2013 and who list St Cross College as their first choice college on their Graduate Admissions application.

International Achievement Award By The Association of Government Accountants (AGA), USA

Each year, AGA presents one crystal award to formally recognize leadership or outstanding achievement in international government financial management. Individuals nominated must have been employed in government service at the time the work being recognized was performed. Nominees do not have to be AGA members. AGA chapters, individuals or government units may make nominations.  AGA Chapters are limited to one nomination that must be endorsed by an authorized Chapter representative. New Zealand ASEAN Scholar Awards For Master and PhD Students, New Zealand

The New Zealand-ASEAN Scholar Awards are funded by the New Zealand Aid Programme, the New Zealand Government’s international development programme. They are managed by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The New Zealand-ASEAN Scholar Awards recognise New Zealand’s close cultural, economic, and geographic ties with South-east Asia. They seek to empower individuals to contribute to the economic, social, and political development of their countries.

Eligibility
To be considered in this scholarship program, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
  • be a citizen of one of the eligible countries and have resided in that country for at least two years at the time of application
  • not have citizenship/permanent residence status for New Zealand or Australia
  • not be married or engaged to be married to a person who holds New Zealand or Australian citizenship or permanent residence status
  • not hold or have held a New Zealand Government or Australia Government scholarship in the preceding 24 months at the time of application
  • not be seeking support for a degree programme already commenced
  • not hold a qualification at a similar level or in a similar field of study at similar level (this means holders of bachelor degrees should apply for Masters or PhD and Masters graduates should apply for PhD study)
  • be available to take up the scholarships in the calendar year for which the scholarship is offered

FMI Ontario Chapter Scholarship At Financial Management Instittute, Canada

Description
The Financial Management Institute (fmi*igf) of Canada’s Ontario Chapter is pleased to announce their annual scholarship initiative aimed at strengthening ties between public sector financial management and academic programs across the province. Each year, up to five scholarships valued at $2,500 each will be awarded to students currently enrolled in an accounting, finance, or business program at a recognized Ontario college or university who show an interest in working in financial management within the public sector upon graduation. 

Eligibility
Applicants must currently be enrolled in an accounting, finance, or business program at a recognized Ontario college or university.

Applicants should show an interest in working in financial management within the public sector upon graduation.  Holding a co-op position or internship in such a position would be a plus.

Application Procedure
Up to two references may be submitted as part of an application.  One may be from an academic referee, and one may be from a professional referee (ie. FMI member, CA/CGA/CMA, public servant, etc).

Applicants must submit a 500 word essay on a topic chosen by the FMI Ontario Scholarship Committee each year. The topic will be selected by December 31st each year, and will be communicated along with the application information.

POLIS Overseas Research Students Awards At University of Leeds, UK

Description
There are a number of awards that may be of interest to applicants for postgraduate research paths at the School of Politics and International Studies. You should be aware that the scholarship deadlines are often much earlier than you may think, so early enquiry is recommended.

Frank Gilman grew up on a farm in Chelsea, Vt. He attended Chelsea School, graduated from Springfield High School and, as an adult, lived in Hartford. He was an ambitious entrepreneur and achieved financial success through the chance merger of his White River Junction lumber company with a larger company in the early 1970s and through his land-leasing business,Valley Land Corporation, where his wife was treasurer.

The Gilman Foundation is interested in supporting students throughout their academic career up to a four-year degree. Each award will be up to $5,000 and can be renewed.

Eligibility
The scholarship program focuses on students graduating from Lebanon High School, Rivendell Academy, Mascoma Valley Regional High School and Woodsville High School who plan to attend any accredited post-secondary institution including vocational and technical schools, community colleges, or four-year colleges or universities.  Awards will not be made for graduate study.

Description
There will be a total of up to 15 scholarships offered to students officially enrolled in a four-year full-time undergraduate degree program.

The BMO Financial Group’s philanthropic investments include a variety of educational initiatives. They are committed to providing programs needed to benefit the broader community. The BMO Financial Group Diversity Scholarships at Ryerson University will provide enhanced access to post-secondary education for traditionally underrepresented groups including women, visible minorities, international students, students with disabilities and aboriginal students.

Eligibility
  1. Must be from traditionally underrepresented groups including women, visible minorities, international students, students with disabilities and aboriginal students.
  2. Officially enrolled in a four-year full-time undergraduate degree program.
  3. Students entering 1st year with a minimum average of 80% in 6 U/M credits or equivalent will be considered for a $1,000 or $2,500 scholarship; students must have been full-time secondary school students during the previous academic year (2010-11). Deadline: October 1, 2011. Scholarships will be issued at the end of November.
  4. Students currently enrolled in 1st, 2nd or 3rd year with a minimum 2.00 cumulative grade point average will be considered for a $1,000 or $2,500 scholarship. Deadline: March 1, 2012. All scholarships awarded will be deposited directly to students’ tuition fees, for the following academic year.
  5. Demonstrated financial need reflected in the Budget Form submitted.
  6. Submission of a personal letter (750 words or less) which describes both successes and challenges experienced while pursuing a postsecondary education and the importance of receiving this scholarship.

Research Fellow in Computational Aeroacoustics: Aerofoil-Turbulence Interaction Noise At Southampton University, UK

Description
Applications are invited for the position of Research Fellow in Computational Aeroacoustics to be based in the Aerodynamics & Flight Mechanics research group of the Faculty of Engineering & the Environment. The work is part of an EPSRC funded research project (EP/J007633/1) on the reduction of aerofoil-turbulence broadband interaction noise through the use of aerofoil leading-edge serrations.

Endowed Scholarship Program Offered By Spalding University, USA

NONTRADITIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS OF JEFFERSON COMMUNITY COLLEGE, USA

Description
New, returning, transfer and continuing students may be eligible to apply for the Jefferson Community College
Nontraditional Scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year. The scholarship is $500 per year, awarded in $250 increments per semester. Students are welcome to apply for
the scholarship for a second year, but will compete with that year’s applicant pool.

Eligibility
  1. Over 24 years of age and not dependent upon your parents for support.
  2. A veteran of the U.S. armed forces.
  3. Married.
  4. Supporting your own child.

TWAS-USM Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme, Malaysia

Description
TWAS-USM Postdoctoral Fellowships are tenable in the departments, institutions and laboratories of the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) for a minimum period of twelve (12) months to a maximum period of three years and are awarded to young scientists from developing countries (other than Malaysia) to enable them to pursue advanced research in the natural sciences. USM will provide a standard monthly allowance which should be used to cover living costs, such as accommodation and food. The language of instruction is English.

Eligibility
Applicants for these fellowships must meet the following criteria:
  • be nationals of a developing country (other than Malaysia);
  • hold a PhD degree in a field of the natural sciences;
  • apply for the fellowship within five years of having obtained a PhD degree in a field of the natural sciences;
  • be regularly employed in a developing country (other than Malaysia) and hold a research assignment there;
  • provide an official Acceptance Letter from a department, laboratory or institute at USM (see sample Acceptance Letter in the application form). Requests for acceptance must be directed to the Dean, Institute of Postgraduate Studies, USM (Prof. Roshada Hashim: by e-mail twasusm@gmail.com) who will facilitate assignment of a host supervisor.  In contacting Prof. Hashim applicants must accompany their request for an Acceptance Letter with copy of their latest CV and a short write-up of research proposal (maximum 3 pages);

Victoria Chinese Partner Universities Master's Scholarships At Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand

Description
For the purpose of encouraging postgraduate research at Victoria, the University is offering to students of its Chinese Partner Universities the opportunity to study the degree of Masters (by thesis) in political science, international relations, law, or business and economics at Victoria University of Wellington.

Up to four scholarships shall be offered, consisting of an international fees remission at up to NZ$18,000 which will allow recipients to pay only the equivalent of domestic tuition fees. The offer is for students about to commence a full-time, research-focussed Master’s degree with a thesis component of at least 120 points.

Leadership 1000 Scholarship By College Success Foundation, USA

Description
The Leadership 1000 Scholarship is a scholarship program funded by individuals, foundations, or businesses and provides college scholarships to deserving students who need assistance attending an eligible four-year college or university in Washington State.

A Leadership 1000 Scholarship can be customized around a general set of requirements requested by the donor. Scholarships awarded will range from $2,500 to $5,000. Some scholarships will be for one year only while others will be renewable for up to three additional years.

Eligibility
  • Be a Washington State resident, (meeting in-state tuition requirements or eligibility for Washington State financial aid programs).
  • Plan to enroll as a college Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior in fall 2012.

The RIBA Aedas Stephen Williams Scholarship is an annual funding scheme supporting postgraduate students of architecture enrolled in Schools of Architecture with RIBAvalidated courses in the UK and abroad. The Scholarship is offered in partnership with Aedas Architects Ltd and has been named in memory of Stephen Williams, a past Director of Aedas.

The Scholarship aims to support outstanding students who have the potential to make a significant contribution in the field of architecture.
