The amount of the scholarship
Undergraduate and Higher Diploma students
  1. The International Student Scholarship will provide for a 25% reduction in tuition fees for each year of an undergraduate or a Higher Diploma programme. (NB for entry into all years of Bachelor programmes except final year).
  2. Award in subsequent years of study is subject to the achievement of 60% overall average mark

The Jefferson Scholarship For Undegraduate Students At Virginia University, USA

Description
Intended to cover the entire cost of attendance for four years at the University of Virginia, the Jefferson Scholars’ stipend includes tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, board, and personal expenses.  In 2011-12, Jefferson Scholars from the Commonwealth of Virginia will receive $24,104 each year, and out-of-state or international Jefferson Scholars will receive an annual stipend of $49,098.

Eligibility

Description
A scholarship has been established by University of the Arts London patrons Patrick and Kelly Lynch for students who wish to study fine art at postgraduate level. The scholarship is open to Home, EU and International students accepted on the full-time MA Fine Art course at Chelsea College of Art and Design.

The scholarship will cover tuition fees for up to two students. Applications are encouraged from students who will benefit from postgraduate studies to realise their full potential and who are in financial hardship.

Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships, USA

Description
World studio AIGA Scholarships benefit minority and economically disadvantaged students who are studying art and design disciplines in colleges and universities in the United States. Our primary aims are:
  • To increase diversity in the creative professions
  • To foster social and environmental responsibility in the artists, designers and studios of tomorrow

The following are the amount of the scholarship:
  •  Basic scholarships are awarded in the amounts of $2,000–$3,000.
  • Up to two additional awards may be given in an amount up to $5,000 at the jury’s discretion.
  • Honorable mention prizes in the amount of $500 cash are also awarded.

Eligibility
  • Applicants must be citizens of the United States or possess a green card

The International Space University is provided funding from industry and government agencies to help support MSc students who are unable to cover all of their tuition fees. This aid is available to selected applicants, and covers a portion of their fees. It is paid directly to ISU by the sponsoring organization.

  • The K.C. International Scholarship Program In Histry of Technology, USA

Description
Each year the Society for the History of Technology designates up to four International Scholars for a two-year term. The International Scholars program is administered by the International Outreach Committee.

International Scholars shall receive regular SHOT membership at no cost during their two-year term. At each annual meeting, SHOT will host a special gathering to welcome current International Scholars, introduce them to SHOT officers, and discuss with them SHOT’s international outreach and the international intellectual dimensions of our field.

International Scholars will participate in an email discussion list of all current International Scholars and the International Outreach Committee. Through the list International Scholars can seek support in writing paper abstracts for SHOT's annual meeting and other activities in their task as ambassadors for the Society.

Eligibility
To become a SHOT International Scholar, you must reside and work in underrepresented countries at the time of selection. Graduate students, post-docs, and visiting scholars who are living and working in the United States or Western Europe are not eligible to become International Scholars; however, they are eligible to apply once they return to their home countries. Of these potential candidates, anyone at any rank, from graduate student up through senior scholar, is eligible to become an International Scholar.

African Palliative Care Nurses Scholarship Fund For African Nurses

Description
The African Palliative Care Association (APCA) in partnership with FHSSA (previously the Foundation for Hospices in Sub Saharan Africa) provides a limited number of scholarships each year for Palliative Care Training opportunities for nurses. The Scholarship fund was established by a generous anonymous donation in honour of Kath Defilippi, the founding Board Chair of the African Palliative Care Association to recognise her many career achievements as a nurse in hospice and palliative care in Africa.

The Scholarship fund will support:
A contribution of up to US$4,000 per person for palliative care education and training at recognised institutions in Africa for Enrolled and Registered Nurses.  Training programmes which the Scholarship supports include:

    Bachelor of Science in Palliative Care (Degree)
    Distance Learning Diploma in Palliative Care
    Palliative care initiators course
    Nurse prescribers’ training

Eligibility
  • Be a Registered Nurse or an Enrolled Nurse residing and practicing in Africa and with evidence that they will be able to continue providing palliative care after their training (please provide a supporting letter from head of your institution confirming this).
  • Have applied for the course they intend to pursue (where they have an acceptance this should be attached to the application)

The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship helps low- and middle-income Washington State residents earn first bachelor’s degrees in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and health care. Beit Trust Scholarship Specially Offered For Student From Malawi, Zambia or Zimbabwe, UK

Description
The Beit Trust offers annually a small number of Scholarships abroad for postgraduate studies or research to graduates who are domiciled in Malawi, Zambia or Zimbabwe (the beneficial area).  Scholarships are taken up at a university in the United Kingdom, Ireland or South Africa, for study in a subject of the individual’s choice appropriate to the needs of the beneficial area.  Duration is normally for a maximum of three years at the discretion of Trustees.  In addition, awards for a one-year taught Masters Degree are offered at the University of Leeds, known as the Beit-Leeds Scholarship (BL); at the University of Reading, known as the Beit-Reading Scholarship (BRG); and at Rhodes University, known as the Beit-Rhodes Scholarship (BRU).

Eligibility
  • Students who are domiciled within Malawi, Zambia or Zimbabwe.
  • All applicants except medical and veterinary doctors must be under 30 years of age on 31 December of the year of application.
  • Some experience of work after completion of a first degree is desirable.
  • Doctors and vets must be under 35 years of age on 31 December and should have completed 18 months of internship and preferably a one-year rural posting in the relevant country.

Applicants from Zimbabwe and Malawi cannot, at this time, use this online facility but should email directly to beitrust@africaonline.co.zw, (please state which country you are from) whereupon the Application Form and information required will be sent. Our International Achievement Scholarships programme is open to students from any non-EU country applying to study at Sheffield Hallam University who will be enrolling in 2012/13 academic year. All full-time undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses are taking part in the programme.

Halper Family Fund For MPhil Degree At the University of Cambridge, UK

Description
The Halper Family Fund will support a Bursary open to well-qualified British candidates who will be studying at the University of Cambridge for an appropriate MPhil degree in one of the following fields: Atlantic Relations, US foreign policy or Anglo-American security questions.

The Bursary can only be held at Magdalene College and the recipient will become a College Scholar. The Bursary will be tenable for one year from the start of the next academic year (1 October 2012).

In determining the value of the Scholarship in individual cases, the College will take into account a candidate's income from all sources. The maximum award that will be made to a Scholar will be a contribution to maintenance costs of £8,000 (at 2012 - 2013 costs). It follows, therefore, that an applicant will have found, or have applied for, the costs of meeting i) University and College Fees and ii) outstanding maintenance costs.

Eligibility
Those wishing to be considered for a Halper Family Bursary must apply to the University to be admitted for the MPhil degree and to the College for consideration for the Bursary. For the University application, applicants must apply to the Board of Graduate Studies, 4 Mill Lane, Cambridge CB2 1RZ, for admission to the University as a Graduate Student using the usual GRADSAF form which is obtainable (in hard copy or electronically) from the Board. Applicants must have been provisionally accepted by the Department of Politics and International Studies before their application can be considered for College membership.

Fernand Braudel – IFER Fellowships, A Postdoctoral Fellowship In Social and Human Science, France

Description
The Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH, Paris) offers postdoctoral fellowships for researchers in the social and human sciences for periods of nine months within the framework of its “Fernand Braudel-IFER” (International Fellowships for Experienced Researchers) programme.

This programme is supported by the European Union (Action Marie Curie – COFUND – 7th EU Research Framework Programme), the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR), the Institute for SHS at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the Fritz Thyssen Foundation (Cologne), and is carried out in collaboration with the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD)

The amount of the monthly stipend for room & board and living expenses is €2,000 (euros). The cost of medical insurance is covered for researchers hosted in France. Travel expenses (return travel fare) between the researcher’s country of residence and France or between France and the host country will be covered, subject to prior approval. Upon request, additional funding may be granted to cover documentation costs or participation in scientific events held in France (or in the host country). 

The Fernand Braudel-IFER programme breaks down into two sections:
  1. The Fernand Braudel-IFER incoming programme for residencies in France (for researchers that belong to a foreign research centre).
  2. The Fernand Braudel-IFER outgoing programme for research stays in other European countries (for researchers that belong to a French research centre).

Eligibility
Eligibility criteria for the Fernand Braudel-IFER incoming programme
  • Applicants must reside outside France and belong to a non-French research institution (university, academy of sciences, or other research organism).
  • Foreign candidates that reside in France or have resided there in the year preceding the deadline for applications are not eligible. Lecturers, fellowship-holders and those holding teaching positions in a French institution or research centre are considered to be French residents.
  • Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) as at the date of application (i.e. dissertation successfully defended).
  • The application must be submitted within six years of defending their doctoral dissertation. Exceptions may be granted for some cases of career breaks (e.g. interruptions due to maternity leave, illness, etc.).
  • Applicants must be fluent in one of the working languages of the host laboratory; fluency in French or English is preferable.
  • Any laboratory in which the applicant has already worked at any time during his/her scientific experience (including during doctoral studies) is not eligible as a host laboratory.
  • Due to the limited number of fellowships available, applicants residing abroad but that completed their doctoral studies in France are not given priority.

Student Academy Awards, A Competition of University's Film Makers, USA

Description
The Student Academy Awards is an annual competition for college and university filmmakers. Winners – selected by the professional filmmaker members of the Academy – receive trophies (but not Oscar statuettes) and cash prizes. Many have gone on to have successful careers in movies and television.

Eligibility
This program awards Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medal Awards (which go along with cash grants of $5000, $3000 and $2000, respectively) in recognition of outstanding achievements in student filmmaking in a number of categories. These categories include animated films, documentaries, narratives, and alternative films. To enter, you must submit your film (no longer than 40 minutes in length) on a DVD.

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY CHILDREN OF WARRIORS NATIONAL PRESIDENTS’ SCHOLARSHIP, USA

Description
Fifteen scholarships will be awarded for the 2011-2012 Auxiliary year. Three scholarships will be awarded in each Division of the American Legion Auxiliary: one in the amount of $2,500, one in the amount of $2,000 and one in the amount of $1,500. All are gift scholarships and not loans.

Eligibility
  1. Candidates for this award shall be daughters, stepdaughters, sons, stepsons, grandsons, step-grandsons, granddaughters, step-granddaughters, great-granddaughters, step-great-granddaughters, great-grandsons, step-great-grandsons of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion.
  2. Applicants must be in their senior year of high school.
  3. Previous National Presidents’ Scholarship recipients are not eligible for further consideration.
  4. Participation in this scholarship program shall be on a voluntary basis in all Units and Departments.
  5. No Unit may enter more than one candidate in the Department competition. Each Department is restricted to submitting one candidate to the Divisional competition.
  6. The scholarship must be used within 24 months of the date the winner receives notification by National Headquarters, or the scholarship will be forfeited.
  7. Applicant must complete 50 hours of volunteer service within the community, verified in writing by the recipient organization(s).

Olivia James Traveling Fellowship For US Citizen

Description
For travel and study to be conducted between July 1 of the award year and the following June 30. Preference will be given to projects of at least a half-year's duration. The award is to be used for travel and study in Greece (the modern state), Cyprus, the Aegean Islands, Sicily, southern Italy (that is, the Italian provinces of Campania, Molise, Apulia, Basilicata, and Calabria), Asia Minor (Turkey) or Mesopotamia (that is, the territory between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, that is modern Iraq and parts of northern Syria and eastern Turkey). Although the proposal may require travel outside these areas, the majority of travel proposed must be within them. The award is not intended to support field excavation projects.

Applicant must be a United States citizen. Preference will be given to individuals engaged in dissertation research or to those who received their Ph.D. within five years of the application deadline. Recipients may not hold other major fellowships during the requested tenure of the Olivia James award

Richard Plaschka Grant INn Austrian History, Austria

Description
The grant is named after the Austrian historian, who died in 2001 and who worked at the University of Vienna as a university professor for Eastern European history from 1967 to 1993. In 1981/1982 he was the rector of the University of Vienna. Moreover he was the head of the Austrian East and Southeast Europe Institute from 1958 to 1988. Throughout his life Richard Plaschka committed himself to a cross-border and joint way dealing with the history in the eastern and south-eastern European area. The grant recipients should place emphasis on cross-border collaboration in their scientific activities.

Grants are awarded for up to 18 months; follow-up support is scheduled for grant recipients who have consumed at least 12 scholarship months.

The scholarship will cover:
  1. Yearly invitation to a professionally relevant symposium
  2. Yearly endowment for the purchase of specialist literature on the occasion of this symposium
  3. One-month research grant every three years
  4. Subscription to a journal on history topics
  5. Habilitation grant
  6. Publication allowance

Applications are open to university lecturers of history whose main focus of academic interest is Austrian history. Recipients of Plaschka grants can work as visiting researchers at university departments and carry out specialist studies in libraries, archives or at research institutions.

The Alan Lomax Fellowship, Research Fund in Folklife Studies, USA

Description
The Alan Lomax Fellows Program, established for a period of five years, supports scholarly research that contributes significantly to a greater understanding of the work of Lomax and the cultural traditions he documented over the course of a vigorous and highly productive seventy-year career. It provides an opportunity, for a period of up to 8 months, for concentrated use of materials from the Lomax Collection and other collections of the Library of Congress, through full-time residency at the Library. The program supports research projects in the disciplines of anthropology, ethnomusicology, ethnography, ethno-history, dance, folklore and folklife, history, literature, linguistics, and movement analysis, with particular emphasis on the traditional music, dance, and narrative of the United States, England, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and the Caribbean, as well as methodologies for their documentation and analysis. We encourage interdisciplinary projects that combine disciplines in novel and productive ways.

Applicants may be of any nationality and must possess a Ph.D. degree, or equivalent terminal degree, awarded by the application deadline date.
