The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship helps low- and middle-income Washington State residents earn first bachelor’s degrees in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and health care. Three thousand students will be selected and awards will be made for the 2012-13 academic year, These scholarships are $1,000 per year which will be renewable for up to five years for entering college freshmen.

Eligibility
- High school seniors through college seniors who plan to attend colleges and universities in Washington State for the entire 2012-13 academic year

- have a 2.75 GPA or higher
- have completed a 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to submit an application.
Application Procedure
The followings are you needed to apply
- A copy of your completed 2012-13 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or your Student Aid Report (SAR). Questions in the application will reference specific line items from the FAFSA. You should have been emailed a copy of your SAR 3-5 days after completing the FAFSA. If you did not receive an email, you will need to log into the FAFSA website to obtain a copy of your SAR. If you have questions, contact the Federal Aid Information Center.
- Your most recent cumulative GPA. You may want to access your most recent academic transcript, including fall 2011 if you were enrolled, as you will be asked to provide your cumulative GPA with two decimals. Please note if selected you will be asked to submit verification of your GPA.
- A valid email address that you check regularly. All correspondence from the Opportunity Scholarship program will be communicated by email, so it is important to have a valid email address when you start the application.
