Endowed award; established by the Hums family to recognize the academic and extra-curricular chievements of students in political science and to honour John and Susan Hums, long-time residents of northern Ontario; John Hums was active in politics and his community by serving as both a township councillor and reeve over a period of 12 years; John and Susan Hums are proud supporters of the Ontario educational system (all five of their children are Ontario university graduates) and they continue to inspire and encourage all students to learn within and contribute to the communities that surround them
Eligibility
Full-time undergraduate students in Year 2, Year 3 or Year 4 of the Honours Political Science program; demonstrated involvement in extra-curricular activities; preference will be given to applicants with excellent academic standing; Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident (landed immigrant) or Protected Person; long-term resident of Ontario (preference will be given to applicants from the following regions: Algoma, Cochrane, Kenora, Manitoulin, Muskoka, Nipissing, Sudbury, Thunder Bay or Timiskaming); proven financial need
