International PhD Fellowship Provided By Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and the Leo Baeck Institute London, Germany

Description
This fellowships award will be awarded to doctoral students who pursue their research in the field of history and culture of German-speaking Jewry. Besides financial support for one year, the programme offers regular workshops, jointly organized by the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and the Leo Baeck Institute London. The programme particularly aims at doctoral students who wish to carry out research in more than one country; it is open to students of any nationality at any institution of higher education.

Eligibility

  1. University degree(s) with excellent marks
  2. Date of latest degree not before February 2010
  3. Formal qualification for doctoral studies
  4. Doctoral research project focussing on the history and culture of German-speaking Jewry

Application Procedure
Interested candidates must provide the following documents:
  1. Application form
  2. Cover letter outlining the motivation for participation in the programme (1 page)
  3. Curriculum vitae with details on education, general interests and language skills
  4. Photocopy/-copies of university degree(s), including marks/grading
  5. Research proposal (5 pages)
  6. Research schedule for the academic year 2013/14, including planned research trips
  7. Letter of recommendation by the supervisor of the PhD project
  8. Second letter of recommendation

International Graduate Scholarship of Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Scholarship, UK

Description
The University of Oxford announced a scholarship position of Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Graduate Scholarships which will offer 15 annual international scholarships for the study of subjects including literature, history, music, art history, Asian studies, Middle Eastern studies and archaeology; and later rise to at least 35 scholarships a year. As Ertegun Scholars, the world's top graduate students in the Humanities are brought together with Oxford's exceptional community of scholars, in a unique setting that fosters dialogue across academic disciplines, across cultures, and across generations. Ertegun Scholars will leave Oxford prepared to be leaders – not only leaders in their chosen fields, but also leaders of global thought and opinion and leaders of positive action for the betterment of humanity.

Benefits
100% of university and college fees, and a grant for living costs (the rate in 2011-12 was £13,590).

Eligibility
  • Interested applicants must be applying to start a new graduate course at Oxford. Applications to The Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Graduate Scholarship Programme may be made by those working in fields covered by the following faculties: Classics (including classical archaeology); English Language and Literature; History (including history of art and the history of architecture); Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics; Medieval and Modern Languages (covering most European languages and their literature); Music; Oriental Studies (including Far Eastern and Middle Eastern Studies, and the study of a wide range of languages); Philosophy; and Theology. Students from any countries are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants should be concerntrating at the following study programmes: Fields covered by the following faculties: Classics (including classical archaeology); English Language and Literature; History (including history of art and the history of architecture); Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics; Medieval and Modern Languages (covering most European languages and their literature); Music; Oriental Studies (including Far Eastern and Middle Eastern Studies, and the study of a wide range of languages); Philosophy; and Theology.

Application Procedure
  • Apply at the same time as you apply to Oxford by selecting ‘Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Graduate Scholarships in the Humanities’ in the Funding Section of the University's Graduate Application Form. Candidates should apply by Application Deadline 2 (4 January 2013 for Philosophy; 18 January 2013 for all other subjects).
  • In order to be considered for this scholarship, you must submit your application for graduate study by the January deadline listed above and you must have been offered a place on your chosen programme of study by the expected final decision date (13 March 2013).
  • You must also complete a supporting statement and upload it together with your Graduate Application Form by the application deadline in order for your application to be complete.

Foundation Scholarship - The Persian Scholarship Foundation, USA

Description
The Persian Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit foundation with the mission to recognize academic excellence among students of Iranian descent studying in the United States—especially those who through their activities and leadership help to disseminate knowledge about the Persian culture, history and heritage within the United States.

The PSF was founded by Arash Davallou, former president of the Persian Students' Cultural Association at UC Berkeley and member of the Harvard Business School Alumni Association.

The foundation scholarships are currently offered as follow:
  • High School Recognition Award - $500
  • University – Undergraduate Recognition Award - $1000
  • University – Graduate Recognition Award - $1000

Eligibility
  • Currently enrolled student within a high school, college or university in the United States.
  • Publication of an essay / article within your school’s newspaper or a local / national newspaper in which you discuss themes relating to the history, culture, literature and or heritage of the Iranian people or the achievements of scholars, scientists and leaders of Iranian descent. The essay should aim to emphasize the positive achievements of Iran and Iranians and their contributions to society or enlightening aspects of history related to the Iranian-American community.

Application Procedure
Eligible applicants should submit the following documents: a cover letter telling us about yourself, your background and achievements, any leadership experiences you may have had and your reasons for applying to this program (no more than two pages), a data sheet with your full name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, current year in school and the name and location of your school, a digital copy of your valid student ID, a scanned digital copy of your published article, a Word Document copy of the article as a reference, and a digital scanned copy of your official transcript indicating your GPA

Description
Endowed scholarship; applicants are judged on their interest in historical studies, academic achievement in history courses in the first three years, contribution to the history program and a statement of academic and professional goals following completion of an honours degree in history.

Eligibility

(Scholarship for College) Scholarship Opportunity By Shasta Historical Society

Description
The Shasta Historical Society (SHS) is comprised of members with strong interests in history, especially Shasta County history.  The society has a variety of functions, including: to house important historical artifacts and documents; to disseminate historical information to the general public and membership; and to encourage historical awareness.  In addition, the SHS believes that it is important to identify and then assist future historical scholars and educators.  For many years the SHS has provided scholarships for college in an attempt to accomplish this goal

Eligibility

Any senior attending a public High School in Shasta County or any Shasta College student is eligible to apply for the scholarships.  Awarding of these scholarships is competitive; consequently, scholarships are not directed at specific school.  Therefore it is possible that both scholarships may be award to students from the same school.  It is strongly suggested that each applicant develop a student-mentor relationship that will help the student select an appropriate research topic and accomplishing the project.

International Graduate Scholarships At Loughborough University, UK

Description
Over 100 scholarships will be available in 2012/2013 to new self-financing full-time international students who are permanently resident in a country outside the European Union (EU). These scholarships will be to the value of 25% of the programme tuition fee and that value will be credited to the student’s tuition fee account.

The Loughborough University Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and potential. Each scholarship will be of 1 year's duration.
