(Scholarship Grants) Doctoral and Research Fellowship, Canada - India

Description
Doctoral Student Research Fellowships are awarded to students enrolled in Doctoral programs outside India with a significant India Studies focus, to enable them to conduct research in India towards their degree. Students must affiliate with an Indian institution.

The fellowship will cover:
  • One round-trip airfare from the place of affiliation in Canada to the place of affiliation in India by the most direct and least expensive route
  • A living allowance of Rs 21,600 per month
  • An accountable research allowance of Rs 5,400 per month (receipts and expenditure statements required)
  • A reimbursement of affiliation fee up to a maximum of Rs 8,000 (to be reimbursed by the Shastri India Office on presentation of receipts)

Eligibility

  • Eligibility is restricted to citizens and permanent residents of Canada who are a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Students must be registered in a graduate program. Canadian citizens enrolled in graduate programs outside Canada are eligible for student fellowships.
  • Applicants who have accepted an India Studies scholarship award from the Shastri Institute may not apply for a further India Studies Fellowship for consecutive three years
  • Individuals who have received previous grants or awards from the Shastri Institute and have yet to submit their final reports are not eligible to apply this scholarships grants.

Application Procedure
Please provide the following documents:
  • One original copy of Shastri application form (with original signature)
  • One electronic copy of the application form (please sent by e-mail)
  • Proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status
  • At least two letters of recommendation from academic supervisors and/ or current or recent instructors. The applicant should request his/her supervisor to clearly describe how the proposed research is relevant to the Post Graduate program.
  • Transcripts sent by the applicant
  • Proof of registration in a Post graduate program

(Grant Scholarship) Visiting Fellowships for Australian - Indian

Description
The Australian Academy of Science invites applications from Australian researchers with extensive professional experience and an academic publication record for the Australia-India Senior Visiting Scholarship Fellowships.  Indian researchers interested in travelling to Australia should apply through an equivalent program for Indian scientists administered by the Indian National Science Academy (www.insaindia.org/index.php).

Eligibility
  • be a senior scientist, university professor or other researcher with substantial professional experience, e.g. have been engaged in research for more than 15 years following completion of a PhD degree or equivalent, at the time of submitting the grant application
  • be an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident, living in Australia at the time of submitting the grant application (if you were not born in Australia, please provide proof of Australian citizenship or Australian permanent residency)

The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India Scholarship, UK

Description
The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India is offering scholarships for admission to Oxbridge in the academic year 2012-13, as below:
  1. One OCSI scholarship worth between INR 100,000 to INR 200,000 (Rupees One Lac to Rupees Two Lacs only) tenable at either the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford
  2. One scholarship worth INR 100,000 (Rupees One Lac only) tenable only at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge
  3. One scholarship worth INR 100,000 (Rupees One Lac only) tenable only at St. Hilda’s College, University of Oxford
  4. One scholarship worth GBP 1,000 (British Pound One Thousand only) tenable only to read Economics at the University of Cambridge

Eligibility
• Not more than 26 years old as on 1 May 2012
• Nationality – Indian
• Graduate of an Indian university
• Ordinarily resident in India
• Clear intention to return to India after completing the course of study at Oxbridge
• It would also be preferred if late schooling was done in India

The List Of Mahindra Grant and Scholarship Specially Offered for Indian Applicants

Here are the the list of the K.C. Mahindra Education Trust specially offered For Indian applicants.
  • The Mahindra All India Talent Scholarship enables approximately 1,500 students from lower socio-economic groups to pursue job-oriented diploma courses at recognized Government Polytechnics in India each year. Eligible students who have passed 10th and 12th standard examinations and a place in a Government Polytechnic are selected from their high schools.
  • The Mahindra Search for Talent Scholarship is awarded to the students who score the highest aggregate marks in over 35 educational institutes across the country.  It was initiated in 1983.
  •  The K.C. Mahindra UWC Scholarship brings outstanding students aged 16 to 18 years to study at the Mahindra United World College.
  • The K.C. Mahindra Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies Abroad awards an interest-free loan of up to Rs. 200,000 to deserving graduates who are interested in pursuing advanced studies overseas.  Initiated in 1956, preference is given to students interested in pursuing subjects which are not readily accessible in India.  Candidates must possess a First Class Degree and be admitted to a foreign university.  The selection is announced in leading newspapers across India every January.
  • The Mahindra Fellows Fund was set up in 2010 to give an interest-free scholarship of Rs 500,000-800,000 to the top 3 most deserving recipients of the KC Mahindra Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies Abroad.

Batch of Women Scientists Scheme (WOS-C) for One Year Training on IPR, India

Description
“Women Scientists Scheme (WOS-C)” on IPR, a scheme of Department of Science & Technology, Government of India for the women scientists is being implemented by Patent Facilitating Centre (PFC) of Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC). The scheme aims to train women scientists having qualifications in science/ engineering/ medicine or allied areas in the area of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and their management for a period of one year and eventually develop a pool of women scientists geared up in creating, protecting and managing intellectual property in India.

Eligibility
  • Women with Indian Nationality; 
  • Should not be more than 50 years of age as on 01.01.2012; 
  • Should be familiar with handling computerized databases, information collection, collation & analysis and report preparation; and 
  • Should have atleast Masters of Science/Doctorate in Science or Bachelors/Masters degree in engineering/technology preferably in the following subject areas:Chemistry, Chemical Sciences, Drugs, Food & Pharma, Computers & Information Technology, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation & Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences & Biotechnology, Mechanical, Production & Industrial Engineering.
