Significant unemployment and underemployment in the United States has been the focus of the nation's political discourse since 2009. Unfortunately, with traditional sectors struggling, both experienced workers and unemployed individuals are finding it difficult to find work. The truth is that traditional industries such as construction, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and engineering are in an extremely favorable position to be re-trained for green jobs. However, often times, those in the construction and trades sectors are completely unaware of the projected impacts of energy efficiency and renewable energy. More important still, they lack the knowledge that their current skills are particularly prime for filling the positions the green economy is creating. The fellowship award is annually provided by the Oak Institute brings an Oak Human Rights to teach and conduct research while residing at the College. The Institute organizes lectures and other events centered around the fellow’s area of expertise. The purpose of the fellowship is to offer an opportunity for prominent practitioners in international human rights to take a sabbatical leave from their work and spend as long as a semester as a scholar-in-residence at the College. This provides the Fellow time for reflection, research, and writing.

Scholarship Fellowship: The Gabriel García Márquez fellowship in cultural journalism, Colombia

Description
This program is established by the New Journalism Foundation -FNPI -and the Ministry of Culture of Colombia in collaboration with the Secretary of Culture of Barranquilla, the Cartago Foundation, the Hay Festival, the Cartagena International Music Festival, and with the support of the Organization Ardila Lülle (OAL) and the University Jorge Tadeo Lozano, Caribbean campus.

The purpose of this award is to use the themes of music, literature and popular culture to strengthen the basic forms of cultural journalism, specifically the interview, extended reportage and critical commentary. It will also give an opportunity to think about the role of cultural journalism in an era in which creator and audience have an increasingly direct contact, facilitated by digital tools.

The Gabriel García Márquez fellowship in Cultural Journalism will be divided into three modules: Music, Popular Culture and Literature. All modules will be coordinated by FNPI teacher Héctor Feliciano and the American journalist Jonathan Levi. In addition, each module will include guest experts, both national and international.

Eligibility

1. We will select 20 journalists, fluent in English, with a minimum of three years experience, who work or publish in print or digital media.
2. To verify English proficiency, there will be an interview via telephone or skype with the finalists.
3. 6 places will be reserved for Colombians, some of whom may be selected from among the journalists who have previously participated in the training program in cultural journalism of the Ministry of Culture.

The Programme  aims  to contribute to the development of effective and efficient state administrations in the region by offering a tailor-made fellowship and training programme for highly qualified young professionals from the  highest ranking  state authorities of the countries of the Western Balkans.

The program will include as follow:

• Fellows begin the programme by attending a 2 - 3 months LANGUAGE COURSE to prepare themselves for work and life in the host institution and
• All 20 fellows are brought together for the first time at the 2 weeks INTRODUCTORY SEMINAR, held in Berlin and Potsdam, in  co-operation with the Potsdam Centre for Policy and Management (PCPM).
• The  TRAINEESHIP PHASE  follows, with each fellow starting work at host EU member state institutions: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic,  France,  Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain. 
• Mid way through the traineeship, Fellows are gathered in Brussels for a 4 day INTERMEDIARY SEMINAR and visit of EU and international institutions. 
• The Programme is completed with a FINAL SEMINAR, held each year at a different location throughout the Western Balkans. Fellows attend a last set of trainings in leadership, conflict resolution, communication, negotiations and evaluation.

The costs for language training are also reimbursed up to the fixed sum of 1,500 euro. Description
The Fellowship scholarship program is offered and fully funded by Open Society Foundations, the Soros Justice Fellowships fund outstanding individuals working to implement innovative projects that advance reform and spur debate on a range of issues facing the criminal justice system in the United States.

The fellowship program is part of a larger effort by the Open Society Foundations' Criminal Justice Fund to reduce the destructive impact of current criminal justice policies on the lives of individuals, families, and communities in the U.S. by challenging the overreliance on incarceration and harsh punishment, and ensuring a fair and equitable system of justice.

The fellowship program is divided into two categories as follow:

• Advocacy Fellowships fund outstanding individuals — including lawyers, advocates, grassroots organizers, activist academics, and others with important perspectives — to initiate innovative policy advocacy projects at the local, state, and national levels that will have a measurable impact on one or more of OSF's U.S. criminal justice priorities. Projects may range from litigation to public education to coalition-building to grassroots mobilization to policy-driven research.
• Media Fellowships support writers, print and broadcast journalists, bloggers, filmmakers, and other individuals with distinct voices proposing to complete media projects for local, regional, and national markets that engage the public and spur debate on one or more of OSF's U.S. criminal justice priorities.

Eligibility

Postdoctoral Fellowship Scholarship By Pembroke Center Brown University,USA

In 2013-14, the Pembroke Center is awarding one-year residential postdoctoral fellowships to scholars from any field whose research relates to the theme of “Socialism and Post-Socialism”. Fellows are required to participate weekly in the Pembroke Seminar, teach one undergraduate course, and pursue individual research.

Eligibility
Interested candidates must have a PhD and may not hold a tenured position. Fellowships are awarded to postdoctoral scholars who received their degrees from institutions other than Brown University.
