Novo Nordisk and Novozymes offer scholarships to support graduate training of some of the best students in protein science, biotechnology, bioinformatics, molecular biology, systems biology, translational medicine, microbiology, biophysics, pharmacology, medical research methodology, pharmacy, drug delivery and biomedical devices.The purpose is to allow selected students at universities in Denmark and Lund University to devote full time to their MSc thesis (in Danish: speciale).

Benefits:
The scholarship amounts to DKK 7,000 per month for up to 12 months at a maximum of DKK 84,000 for a one year MSc thesis project. The scholarship cannot be extended. The scholarship can be initiated anytime between 1 February, 2013 and 1 September, 2013. If the MSc thesis project is initiated before 1 February next year, the grant will cover the remaining period from 1 February.

Eligibility

• Students enrolled at a Danish university or Lund University at the time of submitting the application. The university supervisor must be associated with the same institution. Marks for bachelor project, if part of the curriculum must be at least 10 and weighted average for the bachelor minimum 8.2 (7-point scale).
• The student may spend some time during the MSc thesis project at an institution outside the university such as Novo Nordisk/Novozymes R&D labs or an institution abroad. However, master students performing or having agreements to perform their thesis work at Novo Nordisk/Novozymes cannot apply.

Scholarship For PhD Level in Experimental Particle Physics at Stockholm University, Sweden

Description
It has been more than 20 years researchers at the international laboratory CERN in Geneva designed and built the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The LHC is now providing the world’s highest energy collisions. The ATLAS experiment analyses the debris from proton-proton collisions at the LHC with the aim of investigating open questions in modern physics such as the hierarchy problem with the Higgs boson mass, what is dark matter made of, how is the observed pattern of elementary particles generated, why is the universe dominated by matter rather than anti-matter. The Stockholm University group is active in the ATLAS experiment, one of the two largest LHC experiments. The group has participated in the construction of components of the ATLAS detector and we maintain a responsibility for maintaining and calibrating these devices. Concerning physics analysis the group is playing a leading role in searches for signatures of hitherto unseen particles and physics processes which are not predicted within the Standard Model of particle physics. Such particles are predicted within a number of theories such as supersymmetry and could account for the Dark Matter of the Universe.

Eligibility
In order to be eligible for this scholarship grant, applicants meet the following requirements:

• one should have studied at least four years at a University and have a BSc in Physics.
• These studies must include advanced courses in physics during one year and an advanced degree project (a detailed description of a project in progress may suffice).
• We seek a self-motivated candidate with good analytical abilities and skills in English.
• Furthermore, the successful applicant should be willing to travel to meetings with collaborators outside of Sweden and possibly spend periods of at least several months duration at CERN.

The Post-doctoral position is an appointment that offers an opportunity to qualify for further research positions within academia or industry. The majority of your working time is devoted to your own research, normally as a member of a research group. Included in your work is also to take part in supervision of Ph.D. students and M.Sc thesis students. Teaching of undergraduate students may also be included to a small extent.

Eligibility
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher with a Ph.D. degree in physics, nanotechnology, electrical engineering or a related topic, with excellent experimental and theoretical skills. The candidate is required to have experience and strong publication record demonstrating his/her ability to conduct creative, independent research. Experience in spin-transport measurement, clean room nanofabrication techniques, and computer programming skills (particularly MatLab and LabVIEW) are desirable. PostDoc should have experience in nanofabrication techniques such as electron beam lithography and processing of semiconductor devices in the cleanroom.

We seek candidates with good team spirit, who like to work in an internationally oriented environment. Fluency in English is a requirement. An interview and a scientific presentation will be part of the selection procedure.

Uppsala University PhD studentship position in Medical Science, Sweden

Description
We are seeking a highly qualified candidate for PhD studies in medical systems biology, particularly cancer systems biology. In this cross-disciplinary project, conducted in Sven Nelander’s lab, our goal is to map and understand how brain tumor-derived stem cells respond to rationally designed drug combinations. To achieve this, we combine mathematical models of drug response of cancer pathways, with cell experiments in a panel of cancer-derived stem cells, conducted at the SciLifeLab facilities.

Eligibility
Highly motivated candidates with a Masters degree in the fields of biotechnology, medicine, pharmacology, biology or biomedicine. We are equally interested in applications from biologically oriented candidates with a Masters degree in a technical or theoretical subject, e.g. physics, engineering, mathematics or computer science. Previous experience in experimental or computational bioscience is considered a merit, as well as experience in cell culture, screening and/or computer programming.

International Master At the University of Skövde, Sweden

Description
The University of Skövde offers scholarships to students attending a Master's programme at our university. The scholarships are tuition fee waivers of SEK 60 000 / year (50% of the tuition fee), and the amount will be deducted from the tuition fee when you receive the invoice. The scholarship granting criterion is academic merits. The scholarship can only be awarded to tuition paying students. Please note that you have to be able to finance the rest of the tuition fee yourself and to cover all the living expenses during your stay in Sweden.

The Guest Scholarship Program for PhD and post-doctoral Students In Sweden

Description
The program is open to candidates from two different categories of countries that determine certain aspects of the program. Therefore you must first find out which category that could be relevant for you.
 

Category one:
Candidates coming from countries on the Development Assistance Committee list of recipients of Official Development Assistance, the so-called ODA recipients.

The program is not open to candidates from Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and Belarus, in spite of them being on the DAC list of ODA recipients. These citizens should instead apply for scholarship through The Swedish Institute Baltic Sea Region Program/Visby Program.

In category one the Swedish Institute has the opportunity to offer approximately 20 scholarships. The final number of scholarships depends on how many candidates in the final selection that have applied for a PhD or Postdoctoral stay in Sweden, and for how long.

Category two:
Candidates coming from the following countries:  Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

In category two the Swedish Institute has the opportunity to offer approximately 5-10 scholarships. The final number of scholarships depends on how many candidates in the final selection that have applied for a PhD or Postdoctoral stay in Sweden, and for how long.

Scholarship benefits
The scholarship amounts to SEK 12,000 per month for PhD students and SEK 15,000 for postdoctoral researchers.

Eligibility
The scholarships are intended for guest students or researchers belonging to any of the above mentioned countries and target groups, applying for full-time studies/research in Sweden. There is no age limit for the scholarship holders.

Please note that to be eligible for a scholarship at PhD level you must be enrolled in ongoing PhD studies at a university outside Sweden.

Please also note that to be eligible for a scholarship at Postdoctoral level you must be holder of a PhD degree, preferably from 2007 or later. You can still apply if you expect to get your PhD degree shortly. However, you must be able to show that you successfully defended your PhD thesis no later than April 15, 2012.

Stockholm Arbitration Scholarships For Chinese Law Graduates To Study Arbitration In Stockholm, Sweden

The Master of International Commercial Arbitration Law program (ICAL) at Stockholm University is pleased to announce that three full-tuition scholarships have been generously donated by three leading Swedish law firms: Gernandt & Danielsson, Mannheimer Swartling, and Vinge.

The scholarships will enable three highly qualified Chinese students to participate in the one-year LLM, post-graduate program in Stockholm, Sweden at Stockholm University. The Master of International Commercial Arbitration Law program provides a truly international and comparative study of arbitration law from both theoretical and practical perspectives. The ICAL program brings together about thirty exceptional young lawyers from all regions of the world each year to engage in an interactive program taught by academics and leading practitioners.

Eligibility

• Chinese citizens with a Bachelor of Laws degree from a university in China.
• To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must hold a university diploma in laws or an equivalent law degree of at least 120 (180 ECTS) credit points (a three‐yeardegree) at the time of application. Applicants must also meet the English language requirements for admission to the programme.
