This program is specially purposed to analyze the rich mobility traces captured by Oulu’s city-wide WiFi, Bluetooth and traffic infrastructure to understand better city-scale movement and develop ubiquitous computing applications.The University of Oulu is an international research and innovation university engaged in multidisciplinary basic research and academic education. The University of Oulu is one of the largest universities in Finland with 16000 students and 3000 staff. The University encompasses eight fields of study: Humanities, Education, Economics and Business, Science, Medicine, Dentistry, Health Sciences, and Technology. The fields of information technology, biotechnology, northern and environmental issues have been defined as special research focus areas.

Benefits: The selected candidate will work within the Urban Interactions research program. Salary will be given in an amout of 3200-3600 euros per month (before tax) depending on the qualifications.

Eligibility
This position mainly requires a strong mathematical background, experience with hands-on development and programming, and familiarity with urban mobility analysis, machine learning, and ubiquitous computing. Understanding of statistics, database programming, and symbolic computation are a benefit. Knowledge of Matlab/R is a plus. You will be expected to develop an analysis system that captures, infers and models individual and group mobility patterns on a city scale.: Must hold a Doctoral degree in a relevant field.

Scholarship Awards of New York State Math and Science Teaching Incentive Scholarships, USA

Description
New York State (NYS) Math & Science Teaching Incentive Scholarships grant are offered to encourage students to pursue careers as secondary math and science teachers (grades 7-12). This program provides awards to students attending school at the undergraduate and/or graduate degree level in exchange for five years of full-time employment as secondary education math or science teachers.

Eligibility

• Be U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens
• Be attending a college located in NYS
• Be matriculated in an approved undergraduate or graduate program at a degree granting institution in NYS leading to a career as a secondary education math or science teacher.
• Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher
• Execute a Service Contract in which they agree to work for five years as a secondary school math or science teacher.
• Not have a service obligation under another program. For example, students may not hold both the Federal Teach Grant and a NYS Math and Science Teacher Incentive Program award at the same time.
• Not be in default on a federally guaranteed student loan.

The School of English is pleased to offer two scholarships grants for October 2012 entry to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme. The scholarships will pay full-time University UK/EU tuition fees for three years or the part-time equivalent.

Eligibility
Applicants must have a first-class or high upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in English and meet the University's standard English language entry requirements. It is expected that applicants should also have a Masters degree with merit or distinction in English or a related discipline or be able to show evidence that they will achieve this before October 2012.

The scholarships are open to suitable new UK/EU and International (i.e., outside the EU) applicants. Please note though that the awards cover tuition fees at the UK/EU rate only. The National Academy of Education/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship Program supports early career scholars working in critical areas of education research. This nonresidential postdoctoral scholarship grant proposals that make significant scholarly contributions to the field of education. The program also develops the careers of its recipients through professional development activities involving National Academy of Education members.

Eligibility
Interested applicants must demonstrated record of research experience in education. Proposed project must be an education research project. NAEd funds studies that examine the efficacy of curriculum and teaching methods, however, we do not fund the initial development of curriculum or instructional programs. Swensrud Teacher Fellowships By Massachusetts Historical Society, USA

Description
The Massachusetts Historical Society (MHS) is offering at least three fellowships to public and/or parochial schoolteachers and library media specialists during the summer of 2012. The fellowships carry a stipend of $4,000 for four weeks of on-site research at the MHS.

Eligibility
Any K-12 teacher with a serious interest in using the collections at the MHS to prepare primary-source-based curricula, supported by documents and visual aids, in the fields of American history, world history, or English/language arts.
